Commonwealth Cultural Forum

About Us

What is Commonwealth Cultural Forum?

A cultural powerhouse that seeks to celebrate the diversity of the Commonwealth through a magnum opus of Arts, Crafts, Culture and Cuisine.

Showcasing the diversity of the Commonwealth with the utmost commitment to Commonwealth values and an eye to promote the synergy of the ‘East’ with the ‘West’. This forum promises to be a platform for cultural engagement that celebrates the uniqueness of its member nations, with emphasis on civilian interaction at the individual, group and national level.

Why Commonwealth?

The Commonwealth comprises approximately 2.2 billion people, with 60% of them being under 30 years of age. Currently, this is the world’s largest bloc of nations that has shed away its imperialist beginnings to become a symbol of new age globalisation.

Today, the power of imperialism stands replaced by the power of knowledge. The new Commonwealth derives its power from a citizenship that embodies the ideals of globalisation, technology and peaceful co-existence.

The Possibilities

  • Technology and globalisation have promoted ubiquity to daily activity making pan commonwealth ideas faster and easier to execute.
  • With a large membership in Africa & Asia – a strong cultural repository lies at the disposal of the Commonwealth.
  • Much of this is unexplored – the emergence of a ‘global’ culture has weakened the power of other cultures – CCF will seek to rekindle that as a unique way of exploring nations. Offering an impetus to local tourism as well.
  • The CCF can stimulate to collaborative opportunities amongst different races and the proverbial ‘East’ and ‘West’ since Commonwealth is the most youthful bloc of nations.

Our Work

  • CCF is to shape up as a platform that promotes commonwealth engagement through cultural exchanges. It will include the hosting of cultural events (ticketed and non-ticketed), international collaborations, workshops and digital media content.
  • The platform will focus on Culture, Folk, Arts, Crafts and Cuisine.
  • Engage with artists, artisans and service providers at the regional levels.
  • Promote international talent from within the commonwealth resource pool.
  • Developing a common resource pool of educational and professionals in the performing arts, artisans, chefs, artists (and other cultural activities).

The Future

  • CCF will move forward with handpicked curated performances to be held within commonwealth nations featuring local artists and support staff.
  • Complimented by a digital engagement mechanism to connect with audiences.
  • CCF will connect with national and international governments during important years of the commonwealth to highlight the significance of cultural exchanges. It will also work with local governments to organise concerts, exhibits and other artistic ventures to make CHOGM and annual meetings of the commonwealth a public affair.
  • Work with hosts governments to generate a strong revenue stream to help locals artists and craftsmen.
  • Put the commonwealth on an international platform at par with the EU or other blocks of nations – without the being delimited by the need for a common market.
